Rasha Taylor saved my wedding dress, and I am not one to exaggerate at all, rather I am known to be bluntly honest with feedback, either negative or positive.

Two weeks before my wedding, my dress finally arrived from the store I had ordered it from in Auckland - a month after the promised arrival date. Excited, I went to a fitting with a local seamstress who said she could do minor alterations to see how it fit. I was looking forward to my Mum seeing me in it for the first time and saying ‘Oh Adele, you look beautiful’ but all she could say was ‘Oh Adele…’ The store in Auckland neglected to tell me that the dress was made overseas, and somewhere along the way the measurement for the shoulder to underbust had 4.5 inches carved off it. A scan through my emails showed I had provided the correct measurements to the store, but I was left with a dress that simply did not fit.

In steps Rasha Taylor.

Mum called her and explained the situation while I had a wee cry in my room. We had an appointment the very next day which left me feeling hopeful, even my fear that the defective dress would no longer support my J cup chest were appeased as Rasha assured me she should be able to make it work.

And make it work she did!!! Over the next week and a half she took apart the front of the bodice, rebuilt it completely, removed every sequin and crystal from the original bodice and refastened them back onto the new. The dress looked untouched, the rouching and beading matched the rest of the dress perfectly, yet now it fit me like a glove. She was more than successful in providing support for my chest and I did not feel restricted in my movements in any way, in fact I was more comfortable than when wearing a bra!

I would definitely recommend Rasha Taylor, and, judging by the look on my husband’s face as I walked down the aisle, so would he.

As my son’s wedding was in two parts, I asked Rasha to make me two outfits. One I had definite ideas about and the other only vague ones. Rasha shone with both. She made every effort to make me what I wanted and and came up with the perfect solution for the other one. Rasha was able to design me something I was entirely comfortable with and made me look and feel fabulous. Her skill, integrity and expertise are second to none. She was able to ‘steer my ideas in the right direction’ when they were headed the other way! I received many compliments on the day and I was proud to tell everyone they were made by Rasha Taylor.

It gave me great pleasure to recommend Rasha to my daughter for her upcoming wedding. We trust her implicitly.

When I first entered Rasha’s shop I was given some great advice. There was only a small selection of dresses to look at. I paid the deposit $1000 and a dress was selected. 48 hours after confirming the dress I decided I wanted different one, same designer but different dress. This is when things started to go down hill. Rasha did not want to copy the designers dress even though the first dress confirmed was a designer dress because of ‘intellectual property’. Another reason why she chose not to make me the dress was because she believed the neck line did not look good on females and she wasn’t willing to make something that may affect her company. A lot of our communication was via email and it was very difficult to get a face-to-face consultation and when I did get a face-to-face consultation I was told I was an inconvenience because I was classed as a ‘difficult client’ (her words). During these consultations I felt my opinion didn’t matter and I felt frustrated. In the end Rasha did not want to make the dress I wanted so I had no choice but to pull out. I was charged for embellishment research, communication via email and a full pattern draft (Rasha only completed a half pattern draft). I chose to go through Rasha because of her locality, just remember to do you homework ladies before jumping in! I found this company to be very unprofessional when it mattered the most!

We have reluctantly had to leave this review up even though we believe it to be a dishonest, vindictive attack on our business.

We believe we explored every reasonable option to satisfy this client.  Rasha Taylor Couture is a designer bridal studio.  95% of our business is made-to-measure designer garments, and we will not copy our competitors designs.  We will also not sell our clients a garment that we do not believe will suit them - as it our professional reputation at stake.

The events to which Ms Erne is referring are spread over a 14 month time span.

Between September 2011 and March 2012, Ms Erne discussed dresses with Rasha Taylor Couture.
In March 2012, Rasha Taylor designed a dress in consultation with Ms Erne, which Ms Erne absolutely loved.
In April 2012 Ms Erne happily paid her non-refundable $1000.00 deposit to secure her booking.

6 Months later… October 2012 - Ms Erne has another consultation, tries on dresses, and confirms the original design by Rasha Taylor of March 2012.  Ms Erne was very happy and agreed that we could proceed and start work on the dress.  We began drafting the pattern that day, finishing it following morning.  Everything was fine.

48 hours later - Ms Erne emails asking for us to put everything on hold, so we did.

Another week later Ms Erne emails us - completely changing her mind about what she wants, as she has gone dress shopping elsewhere.  We do some research at her request to try and find the exact embellishments that she now wants.  We find we are unable to offer the identical embellishments, so we offer some alternatives with a new quote estimate, and ask for more details about exactly what she wants.

Ms Erne emails that she still would love for us to make the dress, but desires to have the specific embellishments on the dress.  She asks “if I was to pull out how much of the deposit would I get back?”.

We make a special exception for Ms Erne, as we are unable to offer the exact embellishments she now wants.  We offer her back some of the non-refundable deposit.  [This is never ever done in the bridal business - as we had turned other clients away because of her confirmed booking].  We also offer her other options and more professional advice - even giving names of local suppliers of the exact dress she now wants.  We make a time for Ms Erne to come in again for yet another consultation.

Rasha Taylor then advises Ms Erne in person as to why halter necks are not part of Rasha’s design aesthetic.  Rasha will not make something she thinks will not suit a client - as it is her reputation as a designer at stake.  Ms Erne agrees for us to order in two modified halter neck gowns especially for her to see.

A few days later Ms Erne emails us asking for a break down of our production costs for pattern drafting - even asking for the cost of brown paper.

Another 2 weeks later, Ms Erne emails us - “With long consideration I have decided to use another dressmaker/designer.  I feel that you won’t make me the dress that I actually want and I dislike your businesses ethics. I chose not to give my business to those whose ethics I feel have not been honest and have mislead me as the client.”

We are left stunned.  Are we are dishonest because of the amount of the non-refundable deposit we offered to give back?  Are we unethical because of our unwillingness to break intellectual property law and copy a competitors exact dress?

We freely offered to give Ms Erne some of the non-refundable deposit back.  We did not have to.  This is despite the fact that we ordered two dresses in we would not normally stock at our own expense especially for her to view - and Ms Erne did not even wait to see them.  We did not charge her for the tens of hours spent on email correspondence.  We did not give her the pattern draft we had finished as it could compromise our company’s intellectual property.  Ms Erne wasted a huge amount of our time and effort, and other brides missed out because we had turned them away because of her paid booking.

Rasha Taylor is a designer - not a dressmaker.  Rasha Taylor rightly refused to copy the exact dress Ms Erne wanted.  We take all our clients very seriously, but we cannot be expected to shoulder blame if a client keeps changing their mind.

We will leave this to you the reader to judge, but we do ask that Ms Erne drop the personal online sabotage before she causes herself any further embarrassment.

When I first met Rasha Taylor I could see her passion for dress making, she was very accommodating and even though her very, very busy schedule she always had the time for me and made me feel 100% confident that she was there to make my journey as smooth and as enjoyable as possible. She worked around 4 of my bridesmaids plus me with appointments with one living in Wellington and another in Australia and only having certain times and days they were available she always made sure she had the time set aside. I had a look in mind for the girls and as Rasha was making the dresses she always kept me posted via txt. When Rasha had the top part of the dress complete she wanted me to come in to the shop to have a look because she wasn’t sure with the design and just wanted my opinion. I totally agreed and we together (after some of Rasha’s research) we decided on a new design for the top of the dress together which suited all 4 bridesmaids to the T! If it wasn’t for Rasha’s passion and fine attention to detail I would have come away with 4 dresses which the girls didn’t suit. All 4 dresses fit like a glove as the final fittings were a few days before the wedding so there was no room for error. I thank Rasha so much for making what could have been a stressful part of the wedding such an amazing adventure and I am continuing to use Rasha’s talent as she is making me a dress to attend a wedding in London this year. I have no issues recommending her to anyone and everyone!

Rasha was a dream to work with.
She made everything so easy and I was never worried about anything at any stage.
Even being in Australia and with my bridesmaids and flower girl all in different cities it all came toegther.
We didnt even need a fitting! Rasha was emailed with an idea of what I was thinking about and through email contact alone she designed and made the dresses.
When the girls tried on their dresses they didnt have to be altered at all!
For my flower girl I really wasnt sure what to have but Rasha designed a beautifully sweet dress that matched so nicely to the rest of everyone outfits.

I was thrilled with how they came out and Rasha was so helpful suggesting accessories to compliment the dresses and really knew what she was talking about especially in regards to how things come out in photos.

Even at the last minute when I realised I hadnt firgured out how to lift my train there was Rasha ready to help and within 20 minutes she had arranged how the train would be lifted and it worked a treat. It looked perfect and I cant thank her enough for the extra effort she put in for me.

I would (and have) reccomend Rasha to anyone who is wanting a stunning, beautifully made and flawless dress that will exceed any of your expectations.
My photos and memories of my day are enhanced by how great the dresses looked and how they made all the girls (and partners!) smile.
