About A Couple Of Night Owls

We are Danelle and Hook, and we are A Couple Of Night Owls. Sleep is a daytime sport for us creatives.

Between the two of us, we’ve got most creative outlets covered. Photography, film/cinematography, retouching, graphic design, illustration, web development (php/css), music production/mixing. We’d even throw baking in there too. Danelle’s been known to whip up a mean batch of cupcakes. Lemon cream cheese are her favourites, but Hook would choose chocolate with buttercream frosting any day.

We’ve been shooting together since 2011, but been partners in crime since 2004.

We love to capture the story. The moments in-between. The emotion. The simple things. Those are the moments you’ll want to remember the most when they’ve passed. And that’s why we do this. Capturing those fleeting moments for you so that those memories are always with you.

We are based in Auckland, but cars, planes and boats now help us to take on jobs all around New Zealand and the world!

Needless to say, their photos are amazing. But they also go the extra mile to help out in every way possible - from letting us get ice-cream from Mr Whippy during our shoot, to getting our parking meter ticket for us before we arrive, AND getting all our photos ready in no time so that we can take them overseas. They feel like your best friends trying to help rather than hired workers. ACONO you guys are the best!

We were recommended ‘a couple of night owls’ and I could not have been happier with them! Right from the beginning they listened to what we wanted and even though we weren’t really sure of the end result they pictured the same thing! They gave advice but weren’t offended if we didnt always take it! Our photos are one of my favourite things about our wedding and I am so happy with the angle Danelle and Hook went with.
They were the right photographers for us as neither of us wanted to spend the whole day posing for photos. We wanted to enjoy our day but still have the photos to show for it, and that is exactly what we got!
I could not speak highly enough of them! Anyone wanting amazing photos NEEDS to have ‘A couple of night owls’

We were married in Feb 2013 and utilised the skills of Danelle and Hook to take our wedding shots. Not having met them before, and organising our wedding from abroad, we found them both easy to get along with and professional from start to finish.
Having a general interest in wedding details, Danelle gave us website inspiration and ideas which helped in our planning and bringing ideas together. We had a particular style in mind and found the shots on their website a good gauge of the composition and colours to expect in our own shots.
On the day, working as a team of two, means they were able to capture both myself and my partner getting ready and gave us inventive ways to have fun and make the most of these shots. Danelle worked away in the background whilst the ladies were getting ready and then both Danelle and Hook worked tirelessly took capture our ceremony and reception shots well into the night.
When we received our photos (in beautiful packaging) we were really excited and happy as to how the day has been captured with an array of shots, from finding beauty in the detail to remembering the expression on our guests faces. We would highly recommend them to snap the essence of your wedding.
