I found Julie using Google, from Adelaide whilst planning our wedding in Christchurch.
I was concerned about having a bossy or insensitive celebrant, and Julie was definitely not that. She made herself available to meet with me, discuss ideas, lead me through options, and offered further support with check-ins - multiple times in the lead-up to our big day!
During the rehearsal and the ceremony she was tender, responsive, professional, respectful and added immensely to the romance of the occasion through her tone and regard for largeness of the event.
At every other wedding I’ve been to, the celebrant or Priest has either messed-up the words or not truly reflected the values and qualities of the couple. Julie spoke clearly, eloquently and with a moving tone.
She was AMAZING. We had many comments on the beauty of our vows and from people telling us it was the “happiest wedding” they had ever been to. Julie’s guidance and presence contributed greatly to making this happen and we’re VERY grateful to her!
She was SO easy to work with - even when I scheduled the actual ceremony much later than initially planned and she didn’t find out until the rehearsal. She was supportive through and through.
If you’re a sensitive bride or groom, with a tendency to overthink things, you may find a lot of comfort in having Julie as your celebrant.

I found our ceremony completely overwhelming and I can see in our video that I have my eyes fixed mostly on Julie… I felt “if I just look at Julie, she will make sure everything goes smoothly’.... I do look at the groom for part of my vows… but then ‘ground myself’ by looking at Julie again, hahaha.

Julie was really great.  She let us work on ouright vows in our own time.  Her folder of suggested vows was really helpful.

We are from Singapore and were looking for a wedding celebrant in New Zealand as we wanted to register our marriage there and come back to Singapore to celebrate with friends.

We found Julie, who is very responsive and knowledgeable. We looked no further. Booked our flights, hotels and got married under a month at a lovely park under the trees.

Julie helped us through it all and even with witnesses too. We would not have such a great romantic wedding otherwise.

Julie was an absolute delight to work with from the very first contact. I emailed Julie a year ahead of our wedding to arrange a meeting. We live on the Gold Coast in Australia so we did some communicating via emails with a couple of face to face meetings. Julie was very knowledgeable in her field. She was able to identify if there were gaps or holes in the entire ceremony & reception for that matter. She asked all the right questions & made everything seem effortless.
On our wedding day she was there anead of time and performed a delightful wedding ceremony with an added naming day ceremony for our one year old.
(Oh, did I mention we were married in Christchurch.)
Everything was handled with care and fluidity, even when the wind caught our certificate and landed it in the pond!

We stumbled upon Julie by chance on google search and instantly got drawn in by her smile and warm appearance. 5mins later we had a set meeting time, yes thats how quickly Julie responds to her emails!
She is super friendly, approachable and very organised with lots of helpful suggestions/recommendations for anything and everything wedding related.
Our ceremony was exactly what we wanted, short and sweet with no fuss.

Julie helped us to make our dream come true. Victor and I are from Hong Kong. When the idea of “getting married in beautiful New Zealand” came into our minds, we actually knew nothing on how and what to do to make it into reality. We started to search information and when we came across Julie’s website, we knew that Julie is the right person that we need. Although we didn’t have chance to meet her before our wedding and we only communicated by emails, Julie is so nice and helpful and she did give us great confidence that our wedding should be smooth and successful. AMAZING, friendly, approachable, almost immediate response, humorous, informative are some of the words I would use to describe Julie.
She made our evening more memorable than I imagined.
Our wedding was held at home with family and friends at 5pm (which was no problem for Julie as she is very flexible with times especially in Winter ) and I received numerous comments about how well Julie delivered our ceremony. We aren’t exactly the lovey dovey type and with my now Husband racing sidecars our wedding was going to be nothing like your traditional white wedding.
Julie was FANTASTIC and we could communicate via email so no taking extra time off work or trying to fit in a weekend visit leaving us more leave for our honey moon!!

From the moment I contacted Julie and asked her to preside over our wedding, I was confident that she would deliver a great service. We only met with Julie the once before our wedding and we instantly warmed to her lovely nature. We were second timers at this game and we wanted a very low key, intimate affair at our home, which is exactly what we got, Julie arrived nice and early and made herself familiar with the people that we wanted to be involved in our service and then when it was time, she calmly and professionally proceeded to marry us. When Gerhard and I first discussed getting married we knew we wanted a quiet wedding, and importantly, one that was special for us. We were planning to have our wedding at our local registry office here in England, followed by our honeymoon in New Zealand, It had been a dream of mine to visit New Zealand since I was a girl - as we are in our 60’s, that’s a long time!. However I was surfing the internet one one day, and I found out we could marry In New Zealand. I came across Julie Lassen’s website, contacted her, and when she confirmed that we could indeed marry in Christchurch, both Gerhard and I were thrilled. We knew that this was what we wanted.
From that point on Julie was a complete gem, pointing us in the right direction to get the legal documentation required, suggesting venues, ordering the flowers, the photographer and sending us copies of suggested ceremonies, so that we could prepare our very own. All of this was done by e-mail!!
We arrived in New Zealand just two days before our wedding, having complete faith in Julie. The wedding day came, we met a smiling Julie for the first time at Mona Vale. Everything was exactly as we had dreamed of. To get married in Christchurch, New Zealand, by the river, in brilliant sunshine, with a ceremony we had chosen was magical. This could not have happened without Julie’s guidance.
After the ceremony we had photos taken in the beautiful gardens of Mona Vale, and went for a punt ride on the Avon. Also arranged by Julie.
Julie’s kindness did not end there. She also arranged for some of the photos to be at our hotel when we passed again through Christchurch on our travels, and for albums to be posted home to England. These were here when we arrived back.

We chose Julie as our celebrant as she has such a friendly face, I don’t think she was ever not smiling when we saw her…...  we wanted a small ceremony with just our children and family and the day was perfect!  Julie arrived half an hour before the ceremony, which was a surprise to our children up until an hour and a half prior, and she chatted with them and our parents until we were ready…..  Julie suggested light lighting of candles to join our families and an awesome Families reading, which was perfect for us ....  thank you so much Julie and I would recommend you to ANYBODY who wants a relaxed, caring and friendly celebrant to take their service…... our day was perfect love Ange & Darryl
